The Space Lady - Major Tom
I have to be honest, this is the first time i hear about The Space Lady. Apparently, The Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of Boston in the late ’70s, then San Francisco ten years later, playing versions of contemporary pop music with an accordion and dressed flamboyantly, transmitting messages of peace and harmony. After stealing and destroying her accordion, she invested in the new Casio keybord, complete with a phase shifter and headset mic, and it was then where it all began, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song! Her influence was viral in the 21st century musicians (John Maus and Erol Alkan seemed they never forgot her) and defined a style that today we hear it all over (John Maus, Ariel Pink and Maria Minerva were deeply influenced!). Well now, Night School Records are determined to bring on the surface this lost in time synth pop gem with the Major Tom/Radar Love 7” and a forthcoming cd/LP with all the recordings she’s made in the past while The Space Lady has began performing live and recording again!
