Fantastikoi Hxoi - Beyond The Remains

It’s been 4 years for FH (Fantastikoi Hxoi) to complete his second but first official album. In 2008 Masters Of The Universe was a sonic revelation for anyone who had the fortune to listen to it. The samples that he used from the ’60s (mostly) Greek music scene were perfectly matched with the kraut and motorik psychedelic manipulations of his. Now, his self titled album came along with a more variable palette and a more adventurous character. The easy listening is mixed with kraut and the motorik anger has soften up with the ethiopian jazz, creating a volcano of space infused sounds with the hot lava looking like the perfect place to dive in.

While the ’70s have never left our lives in one way or another (even though we weren’t even born then!), Greece’s own Baby Guru came here to remind us that we simply didn’t want to! Dolomite Jollity carries this psychedelic progress in it’s heavy intro with the British invasion leeringly laughing over the hammond and the unexpected twist in 1:26 making you wish that the funk interlude would last forever!!!! Gorgeous stuff…

I kinda lost their trail but i think Supermadchen hails a new era for the band. Deeply electro with the Kraftwerk ghost hovering above the bleeps and some kraut-ish air between the cables! Australia and Germany holding hands! Ace….

This new effort from L.A’s Doc Days yelled from my speakers about how good it is! And, man, was it right!!! Moonless Shine begins with some broken beats just before the hauntin’ synths come along and the dark, deep and so alluring in its distance voice of the unknown to me singer keeps flooding your head with bright shadows of a Kafkaesque world! Brilliant….
